Washington, Feb 21 (UNI) US President Joe Biden has agreed "in principle" for a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the Ukraine crisis, BBC reported on Monday. While the talks have been proposed by France the White House said that the condition for the summit taking place is that Russia does not invade Ukraine. The proposal was made by the French President Emmanuel Macron after he made two phone calls to Russian President Putin. The meeting is being seen as offering a possible diplomatic solution to one of the worst security crises faced by Europe in decades. Macron's office said details of the possible summit would be discussed during a meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday. US officials however have continued to insist that Russia is ready to launch a military operation against Ukraine, something which Moscow has been denying vehemently. UNI ACL1606
